.THE ANAM~CARA COMMUNITY MISSION

The Ministry of Brad and Stephanie Bessell through the Anam-Cara Community Mission is to nurture fresh and creative expressions within the One, Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church through:

  • Soul friendship and the New Monasticism
  • Music Ministry and the Arts
  • Pastoral Care, Teaching and Preaching
  • Sacramental Ministry and Retreats
  • Church Planting and Missional Living

Though its missionary outreach band Synnove it is called:

To proclaim the Gospel among the marginalized and in particular by taking the gospel to extreme subcultures, leading them into a relationship with Jesus Christ, and helping them fulfil Gods intention for their lives.

To initiate Discipleship Training Schools that will train and equip the Church to reach
subcultures and face the challenge of world evangelism.

ABOUT US

As a mission we seek to encourage and foster a new monasticism that is inclusive of all the people of God and engage with an ever-changing world. We belong to a contemporary Evangelical Episcopal Church that seeks brings together the streams of the Christian Faith such as, the Sacramental, Evangelical, and Liturgical. Our Bishop is the Right Reverend Rex Harman of the Church of the Southern Cross (www.ceeca.org.au), a Diocese of the Extra-Territorial Province of St. Peter led by Archbishop the Most Reverend Russell McClanahan of the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches.

We are also a linked mission with the Community of Aidan and Hilda and relate to its Guardian, the Reverend Ray Simpson, as a Soul Friend, who lives on Holy Island of Lindisfarne. We draw inspiration from the Way of Life of the Community of Aidan and Hilda and the Celtic Saints. It is from this Community that our way of life has been adapted to our unique context as a Church plant that also seeks to be a new monastic order; for further information see (www.aidan.org.uk).

ABOUT THE NAME ANAM-CARA

The word Anam-Cara is a Celtic word meaning 'Soul Friend'. It was used to describe a wise and gentle person who walked with us on the journey of life; it is a deeply intimate term. This is everything that Jesus is to us and everything that we would like to be to our Generation.

OUR VISION

To create Culturally Relevant Communities that enable our generation through our Rhythm of Life, to enter into the mystery and beauty of the Holy Trinity.

OUR MISSION

To know God and make him known through the Gospel proclaimed in
Word, Sacrament, the power of Spirit and acts of Kindness and Mercy, and
To worship the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in a way that is faithful to the Anglican and Celtic Christian traditions and also engages with contemporary culture.
